For a safe summer, several bans in the Meneghina city are happening. In fact, until August 12, the ordinance set up by the City of Milan will forbid the use of selfie sticks. What is more, the ban puts a stop on cans, glass bottles, fireworks and food trucks.
Carmela Rozza, Security Councilor, explains the reasons for this intervention. “No punishment. The goal, for better safety, is to not introduce cans or bottles of glass and selfie sticks in the Navigli and Darsena areas“.
Why, however, banning selfie sticks? The selfie stick is just a tool to allow group photos or to portray larger portions of landscapes. Yet, it is its extension that has led to the decision to ban its use. The reasons are various: they damage the surrounding environment, block the view, and they could even be used improperly. Many are beginning to consider them a danger not only to tourists but also for the art works they want to visit; In fact, more and more tourist attractions, including museums, parks, and stadiums, forbid their use.
MILAN BANS SELFIE STICKS
In Milan, they’ve already been prohibited at some concerts that took place inside the San Siro stadium. Also, in other cities of Italy and in the world are bringing on similar prohibitions. Various testimonies, including incidents that have occurred in recent times, confirm that this instrument can be really dangerous. The main problem is that people are thinking of taking photographs and they don’t pay attention to their surroundings.
Is this the end for one of the cult objects of the last few years? Is there already an alternative, social method for taking pictures?
