Sonar Festival

Sonar Festival

Located in the city centre of Barcelona during June 16th-17th-18th, Sonar Festival is one of the biggest electronic music city festival in Europe. Started in 1994 by music journalist Ricard Robles and musicians and visual artists Enric Palau and Sergio Caballero. Every year Sonar collects the performances of big artists: such as The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Skrillex, Die Antwoord, A$AP Rocky, FKA Twigs. This year the festival is going to organize its 23rd edition. Combining established artists with emerging talents in the field of electronic music, creativity and technology.

It will take place in two locations, as the festival is divided into two main sections: Sonar by Day and Sonar by Night. Besides live music, conferences and meetings about technology, music and creativity will get to the stage. And, although technology is a big component of the festival, professional cameras and video recording cameras are not allowed in. Keeping this way an allure of mystery around the festival. Which can be reveal only throughout the photos of professional press accreditation holder. Or by Instagram accounts, of course.

The festival is easily livable thanks to the SónarCashless, a wristband given at the check-in point which allows you to pay everything without using any cash but only topping up it, at any cashless point, of the amount of money you need.

Tickets are available via the official ticket outlets, which are listed on the official website of Sónar Festival, or at the ticket offices at the festival where, of course, the prices are more expensive. There are different types of tickets: SonarPass Vip tickets (295€), 2-Night Ticket VIP (180€), tickets for the 3 days of Sonar by Day (195€), tickets only for Sonar by Night (125€), tickets for only one day entrance at Sonar by day (54€) or by night (72€).

During the 3 days of live music and dj’s sets, many musicians are going to be playing here: Anohni, Fatboy Slim, Bob Moses, Young Lean, Boys Noize, Cyclo, Santigold, James Blake, Richie Hawtin. And that’s just the start.

The same location will also host Sonar+D. It is an international conglomerate of conferences, talks, workshop, exhibitions about the what makes creativity and technology come together in our age of digital transformation. It involves technicians, entrepreneurs, artists, companies and researchers from all over the world to present ideas that are able to better influence the creativity in the areas of music, visuals, interactive content and transmedia platforms.
