Promote Italian excellence and offer original and exclusive travel ideas to passengers. From classic destinations to thematic routes. This is Discover Italy, the new project launched by Alitalia, in collaboration with the Italian Touring Club and Gambero Rosso.
A new interactive, multi-channel, multidisciplinary and multilingual portal, created with the aim of attracting tourists and making them discover the beautiful sceneries, as well as the artistic and cultural heritage, that make Italy rich and famous all over the world. Its name is an invitation to discover the country from many points of view, from culture to sport, from fashion to design. Discover Italy, that’s for sure.
The idea was born at Alitalia, the Italian airline company that has seen the percentage of its arriving passengers increasing in the last year.
<The goal is to attract more tourists, especially from abroad, on our flights, and to promote Italian destinations in an engaging and emotional way>, said Fabio Maria Lazzerini, Alitalia’s Chief Commercial Officer.
What is Discover Italy all about?
Discover Italy is, therefore, an online platform containing information, travel ideas, tutorials, photos, videos, tests, recipes and other suggestions. All tools necessary to recount the Italian territory. In addition, a research tool for topics will help the traveller to collect useful tips, allowing himself to be inspired in choosing the next holiday in Italy. And there will be no shortage of flight offers launched by Alitalia.
Discover Italy’s Itineraries
Regarding the different thematic itineraries, they range from enogastronomy to architecture, from cinema to popular festivals, and to lifestyle.
<Italy is one of the richest countries in biodiversity in Europe, of territorial distinctiveness, of quality of gastronomic goods, of landscape attractions, of cultural heritage. It is a unique country in the world and deserves to be known, promoted and valued> declared Franco Iseppi, president of the Touring Club.
Italy is also famous for its Mediterranean cuisine and diet, which is different in every region. Each territory has its own culinary specialities, and even just a tour of gastronomic tastings could be an interesting starting point to discover the secrets of the Belpaese.
<The latest data from the touristic field – said Paolo Cuccia, president of Gambero Rosso, – confirm the attention and growing interest towards Italian food and wine, and how this has become a motivational boost for incoming tourism in our country, bearing the same importance as the history, culture and archaeological heritage that every year attract millions of tourists. Italy is incomparable for the extraordinary presence of excellence linked to the territories, unique in their landscapes and in their biodiversity,> he concluded.
Discover Italy, with its richness in ideas, represents an additional travel guide for those planning a few days in Italy. A new way to enjoy the mild temperatures and the territorial beauty that only the Belpaese is able to give.
